The Central Board of Secondary Examination has decided to re-conduct class 12 economics paper on 25th April. While the board dropped the plan of class 10th mathematics paper re-examination. Dismissing all the petitions regarding CBSE question paper leak the respected Supreme Court (SC) stated that it won’t interfere with any of the CBSE’s decision on re-exam. The court also rejected a plea for a CBI inquiry into leaks of class 10 Mathematics and class 12 Economics paper.
Earlier Girija krishan Verma and Sahil Tagotra filled a plea on the behalf of parents Rashmi Arora, Monica Sharma and Mahinder Pratap Singh. In that plea they said that class 12th re-examination will put the career of class xii students in danger. But the court dismissed the plea and said that it won’t interfere in decision of CBSE.
Earlier CBSE has decided to not to re-conduct class X mathematics exam even in Delhi NCR and Haryana after evaluating the impact of leak. After this decision of board, more than 16 lakh students got relief.
The exams of Class 12th Economics and class 10th were held on 26h March and 28th March respectively. But just after one day of class 10th maths exam the board announced that it would re-conduct Class 12 Economics and Class 10 Mathematics paper because of leak. The decision faced the anger of students on all over the country and they went on protest over it.
The police probed and found that the leak happened between the time the papers were in custody of board officials and when those were kept in banks. The police arrested three people which include two teachers of a private school in Bawana, Delhi. The police told that the teachers had shared the images of economics paper on whatsapp one and half hour prior to exam.
Since it is suspected that the leak might have happened somewhere in outer Delhi. After that the police started checking CCTV footages of banks in those particular areas to see there were some suspicious activity on that time. So CBSE 12th result 2018 slightly may be delay due to this examination.
As per petitioners, the CBSE must not re-conduct the class 12 Economics exam because it spoils the students’ careers. Because most of the students are preparing for entrance exams that take place soon after CBSE re-exam. So the students need enough time to prepare for these entrance exams. These entrance exams are conducted in between April to June month. Some of these entrance exams are JEE, NEET, NDA, AIMS and DU Admission Exams etc.
Some petitioners think that the students have to fill up the forms, get admit cards and study for the exams again. The process will be hectic and won’t let them concentrate on their preparations for entrance exams.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a session named “Pariksha Par Charcha” with “Exam warriors” and expressed his displeasure over leak of Class 12 Economics and Class 10 Mathematics paper leak. He also instructed HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar to take a strict ac action against perpetrators.
